The Asian carp is a problematic invasive species in North America, the containment of which is discussed in the latest issue of The Economist. The Redneck Fishing Tournament is an annual event where contestants use nets, baseball bats, and provocative shorts to make a dent, however small, in the Illinois River’s Asian carp population.
